Counselling
At Centre Self Collective, our counselling is underpinned by strengths-based, trauma-informed and collaborative frameworks. We prioritise creating a safe and non-judgmental space for people to explore, understand and deepen meaning from experiences. We support people from the age of 16 and above.
As a team of Social Workers, we are uniquely placed to assist people with a social model of health. We believe that by understanding the social parts of a person’s identity, we can see how a person is impacted by systems and the wider context. People can face challenges outside of themselves that impact their mental health, such as policy, school, workplace, race, gender, culture, community, age, (dis)ability, family, oppression and poverty. As we utislise a social model in our work, we can work closely with care teams, families, schools, and workplaces to gain best outcomes and help you thrive.
Our approaches
Our wonderful clinicians are trained in a number of therapeutic approaches. If you are looking for a particular type of therapy, we can help you find the best match. We will figure this out based on what you share with us and we will tailor your therapy using one or some of these well known, evidence-based approaches:
- ACT
- Mindfulness
- Emotion-Focused Therapy
- The Gottman Method (specifically with couples)
- Schema Therapy
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
“When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.”

We work with you
We understand that there are times when life can get overwhelming, and we are here to help guide you through this process. When you begin therapy with us, your therapist will work collaboratively with you to explore and identify the challenges you may be experiencing.
In therapy, we will support you to develop an understanding of your personal challenges and to identify strategies needed to improve your psychological wellbeing and relationships, as well as help you to enhance, strengthen and cultivate change.
