about Tammie

Therapeutic approaches

Tammie is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, EMDR therapist and co-founder and director of Centre Self Collective. With over 12 years of experience in mental health and related fields, her practice is informed by her social work training and commitment to clinical excellence. Tammie cares deeply about the people she works with and is dedicated to providing the most effective, evidence-based care so clients can achieve meaningful, lasting change.

Tammie begins by collaborating with you to clarify your goals and then designs a completely tailored therapeutic plan. Whether you’re after an intensive burst of change or a series of extended sessions, she can create a custom EMDR program that meets your needs—without months of slow-paced “maintenance” therapy. Unlike typical therapy, Tammie’s approach is to quickly get to the crux of the issue, then work in a focused way to reduce distress or optimise strengths so you reach your goals faster. She only offers EMDR intensives or extended sessions, ensuring every minute is purpose-driven.

Based in Daylesford on Dja Dja Wurrung country, Tammie specialises in EMDR intensives, condensing many weeks or months of therapy into a few days or weeks. These accelerated programs are available for individuals aged 18 and up, and are designed to support meaningful, lasting change in a shorter time frame than traditional 50-minute sessions. She has a particular interest in early trauma and attachment wounding, self-esteem and confidence issues, and in treating anxiety, depression, PTSD and complex trauma.

She also leverages EMDR as a performance-enhancing tool, collaborating with athletes, corporate teams and high-achievers to overcome mental blocks, sharpen focus and build resilience under pressure. Whether on the sporting field or in the boardroom, Tammie’s integrative approach helps clients excel, thrive and reach new heights in both performance and well-being.

Tammie integrates Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy, Schema Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, CBT, ACT and Mindfulness into her EMDR intensives—always selecting the mix that best aligns with your goals and learning style.

A passionate lifelong learner, and committed to her own self-care and wellbeing, Tammie loves to read compelling books and listen to evidence-based podcasts (or sometimes just celebrity gossip). Movement is essential to her, and you’ll find her working on her strength training, lifting heavy weights, or taking time to slow down and recharge in a Yin yoga session. She’s a total foodie and especially enjoys her partner’s homemade Vietnamese food, and a lover of music which you will hear 24/7 at her home. She’s an avid knitter and finds it a mindful way to unwind, especially when cuddled up on the couch with her Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Punky and Sumo, keeping her company. You may be lucky to meet Punky who is in visiting therapy dog training and joins Tammie in the Daylesford office to offer a little extra comfort and joy.
