Assessment Process
The Gottman Method approach involves a comprehensive 3-part assessment process designed to get a clear understanding of your relationship in order to make informed decisions around treatment interventions.

SESSION 1Â
Introduction & Exploration
MEET YOUR CLINICIAN AS A COUPLE
90 minutesÂ
ALL Participant Session
The first session is 90 minutes and you will meet your clinician as a couple. This is an opportunity to share what has brought you to couples therapy and explore the history of your relationship.  Following this session you will be sent the Gottman Relationship Check-up. This is an online assessment that you and your partner will complete separately. The assessment is a holistic look across your relationship and will help us to identify the strengths and challenges in your relationship. Â

Personal Perspectives
INDIVIDUAL SHARING
50 minutesÂ
Individual sessionÂ
The second session is 50 minutes and your clinician will meet with you and your partner separately to give you both an opportunity to share your thoughts, feelings and perspectives on the relationship.
SESSION 3
Assessment Findings
DEVELOPING GOALS
50 minutesÂ
ALL participant sessionÂ
The third session is 50 minutes and you will meet your clinician as a couple where they will talk you through the assessment findings. Your clinican will support you to develop goals for therapy and work collaboratively with you to decide on the frequency and duration of sessions and identify the research-based recommendation for therapy.
