Counselling in Thornbury (Naarm/Melbourne)

At Centre Self Collective (CSC), our Thornbury clinic is a warm, inclusive group practice based in the heart of Melbournes inner north on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country.

From this location, our team of clinicians offer 1:1 therapy, EMDR immersive programs, and group workshops, supporting people who want meaningful, sustainable change in their lives.

We are proudly LGBTIQ+ and neurodiverse-affirming, and committed to practising in culturally responsive and decolonising ways. Our aim is that every person who walks through our doors feels seen, safe, and respected.

Our Thornbury Therapy Space

Our Thornbury rooms are designed to feel calm, cosy, and grounding – somewhere you can exhale and land, even on hectic days.

We pay attention to the small details: comfortable seating, soft lighting, sensory supports and tools for resourcing (especially important in EMDR work).

What is an EMDR Immersive?

An EMDR Immersive is an accelerated format of EMDR therapy that allows you to complete hours of structured, one-on-one trauma work over a shorter period of time.

Instead of weeks or months of traditional weekly sessions, immersives give you:

  • Dedicated extended therapy time

  • A clear, focused approach to your goals

  • A supportive, contained environment to process difficult memories

  • Faster, deeper change without the stop–start rhythm of standard therapy

Our immersive programs are available in-person in Daylesford or online, depending on your needs and comfort.

Is an in-person EMDR Immersive
right for me?

Many people choose to do their immersive in Daylesford because it offers:

  • A therapeutic retreat-style environment

  • Distance from everyday demands

  • A setting that promotes nervous system regulation

  • A chance to pair therapy with rest, nature, spas, reflection or quiet time

If you prefer a more contained in-person space — or if you simply feel best doing this work away from your usual environment — our Daylesford office may be the ideal choice.

Centre Self Collective values the lived experience and contributions of people from all cultures, genders, sexualities, bodies, spiritualities, ages, abilities and backgrounds. We are committed to cultivating inclusive environments and are dedicated to building a sustainable and an environmentally aware practice.

Acknowledgement and Commitment to First Nations Justice. Centre Self Collective acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live, work, and offer care. We recognise their deep and enduring connection to land, waters, skies, and community - and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. We honour the wisdom, strength, and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across all communities. As social workers and mental health practitioners, we hold a deep awareness of the systemic harm our profession has contributed to, including the forced removal of children, policies of assimilation, and the ongoing disruption of families, cultures, and Country. These injustices continue to reverberate through intergenerational trauma and ongoing structural inequities. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. Centre Self Collective stands in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We wholeheartedly support the Uluru Statement from the Heart, the journey toward Treaty in Victoria, and the principle of Aboriginal self-determination.
